How to Cite Sources in ASA 7

ASA 7 reference entries are organized around author, year, title and source information and are typically paired with author-year in-text citations.

Method

  1. List authors in the order shown on the source.
  2. Place the publication year immediately after the author information.
  3. Add title and publication details for the source type.
  4. Review the final entry against the ASA 7 guide and local requirements.

Worked example

Journal pattern: Author. Year. “Article title.” Journal volume(issue):pages.

Book pattern: Author. Year. Book title. Publisher.
