How to Calculate the Final Exam Score You Need
A final exam only affects the fraction of the course assigned to it. The remaining fraction is already represented by the current grade.
Method
- Convert final weight to a decimal.
- Multiply current grade by the non-final fraction.
- Subtract that contribution from the target.
- Divide the remainder by final weight.
Worked example
Current 82, final weight 30%, target 85.
82×0.70=57.4; (85−57.4)÷0.30=92 required.
Notes
- A required score above 100 may be impossible without extra credit.
- Use the current grade before the final.
- Check whether other assignments remain.
